It\u2019s no coincidence that American football is the most popular sport on TV in the United States \u2014 and rapidly gaining ground worldwide. Across the regional associations of the AFVD, more than 73,000 people are dedicated to this thrilling sport and\/or cheerleading. And cheerleading as well: a high-performance sport for women and men at the top level \u2014 not just dance, but also elements that would fit into the most demanding gymnastics routines.<\/p>\n

Of course, at the ERIMA GFL Bowl in Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion we will see the two best men\u2019s tackle football teams on the field. But the event program will showcase the full diversity of the American Football Association of Germany. Players, coaches, cheerleaders, and referees shape the identity of American football from Flensburg to the Allg\u00e4u, from Saarland to the Ore Mountains.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s time to dedicate the biggest celebration of the AFVD entirely to them again. Naturally, the cheerleaders will play their classic role in creating the game-day atmosphere: spreading excitement, energy, and great vibes. But they \u2014 like all other active participants \u2014 deserve to be entertained beyond that, with a program worthy of the dedication they show throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Ten years later, the Rudolf Harbig Stadium<\/strong> is known throughout Germany. The thrilling home games of SG Dynamo Dresden and numerous major events show that the heart of the state capital beats at Lenn\u00e9stra\u00dfe 12.<\/p>\n

The key figures of Germany\u2019s steepest single-tier stadium are a series of superlatives. More than 32,000 guests<\/strong> can be accommodated under the roof of the arena, which opened in 2009. 19,502 black-and-yellow seats and 1,170 padded VIP seats<\/strong> await the visitors. And 11,050 standing places \u2013 9,055 of them in the North Stand alone \u2013 reflect the unique football culture<\/strong> in Dresden. There are also 18 exclusive suites and 119 press seats located 30 meters above the ground. The accessible stadium area covers 72,000 square meters<\/strong>, including parking spaces for nearly 700 cars and 184 bicycles.<\/p>\n

The impressive structure is approximately 195 meters long<\/strong> and 160 meters wide. The reinforced concrete building comprises five floors and is clad with a 2,000-square-meter transparent glass fa\u00e7ade. The stands, including the new family section, are made of around 8,000 precast concrete elements.<\/strong> The roof is constructed as a steel truss structure<\/strong> with a surface area of 19,000 square meters, two-thirds covered with trapezoidal sheet metal and one-third with synthetic material.<\/p>\n

The stadium features two video boards, each measuring 42 square meters, and more than 184 floodlights. The lighting intensity<\/strong> of the floodlights is 2,000 lux \u2013 almost twice as bright as the former \u201cgiraffes.\u201d An emergency power generator ensures uninterrupted game operations. The arena equipped with state-of-the-art technology cost around 43 million euros<\/strong>. It is well integrated into the international transport network and can be reached from all directions by train, car, or air. In terms of land area among major German cities, Dresden ranks fourth after Berlin, Hamburg, and Cologne.<\/p>\n

The city spans both banks of the Elbe River and is nestled between the foothills of the Eastern Ore Mountains, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, and the Lusatian granite plateau, at an elevation of 113 meters above sea level. The Triebenberg, at 383 meters, is Dresden\u2019s highest point and is located in the Sch\u00f6nfeld highlands. The lowest point is in the Cossebaude district at 101 meters above sea level.<\/p>\n

The Elbe meanders for 30 kilometers through the urban area. Nine bridges provide crossings within the city. With 62 percent woodland and green space, Dresden is considered one of the greenest cities in Europe. Within the city limits, there are 3 nature reserves, 11 landscape protection areas, and 112 natural monuments. Numerous public parks and recreational areas complete Dresden\u2019s green landscape.<\/p>\n

Dresden is renowned as a city of art and culture, but also as an important center for technology. A strong network of research, business, and culture has developed here. In total, the city is home to nine universities. With 33,506 students, the Technical University of Dresden is one of the largest universities in Germany.<\/p>\n

From August 2008 to July 2015, Helma Orosz (CDU) served as the city\u2019s mayor, succeeding Ingolf Ro\u00dfberg. Since August 2015, Dirk Hilbert (FDP) has been the elected mayor of Dresden.<\/p>\n
